Rules for remote collaboration, communication, security, and team expectations.
This policy applies to all employees and contractors authorised to work remotely. Buwigs follows the Labour Act, 2074 (2017) and related Nepalese labour laws when applying this policy.
Standard working hours are eight (8) hours per day and forty-eight (48) hours per week, in accordance with the Labour Act, 2074. Remote employees are expected to agree core availability with their manager and remain reachable during agreed hours. Overtime must be authorised in advance and will be paid at a rate of 1.5 times the normal hourly rate unless otherwise required by law.
Remote employees are entitled to leave as prescribed by law and company policy. The statutory minimum entitlements include:
Leave accrual, notice and approval procedures follow company HR policies and the Labour Act. Where statutory minimums differ from company policy, the higher entitlement will apply.
Buwigs complies with contribution requirements for the Contribution-based Social Security Fund (SSF). Employer and employee contributions will be made in accordance with law and current rates. Typically this includes employer and employee contributions (examples: employer ~20%, employee ~11%) but actual percentages are determined by applicable regulation and may change.
The company provides or reimburses necessary work equipment (laptops, peripheral devices) and, where applicable, a reasonable internet allowance. Employees must maintain a safe and ergonomically suitable workspace. Buwigs will provide guidance on health and safety while working remotely and expects employees to follow those guidelines.
Employees must protect company and client data when working remotely. Requirements include use of company-approved devices, up-to-date security patches, encrypted storage where required, use of VPNs for remote access, strong passwords and multi-factor authentication. Sharing of confidential information on personal or public devices/networks without prior approval is prohibited.
The company may monitor work-related activity on company devices to ensure performance, security and compliance. Monitoring will be proportionate, lawful and communicated to employees in advance. Personal privacy will be respected and monitoring will not extend to personal data beyond what is necessary for the legitimate purposes described.
Employees must report security incidents, data breaches or loss of company devices immediately. Failure to follow this policy, misuse of company data, or gross negligence may lead to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
This policy will be reviewed periodically and updated to remain compliant with the Labour Act, 2074 and other applicable laws. Employees will be notified of any material changes.
